While living in emigration, she helped famous writers like Vytė Nemunėlis (Bernardas Brazdžionis) and Stasys Džiugas. Her works can be easily recognised from the perfected Lithuanian vibe, and, of course, the expressivity. The illustrations captivate you within a story’s rhythm, while characters of fanciful forms are kind of dancing to it.
Stančikaitė-Abraitienė was a decorative graphic artist by specialty, drawing covers and vignettes for magazines such as “Ateities spinduliai” [Future Rays], “Žiburėlis” [Little Flash], “Genys” [Woodpecker]. At the end of World War II she moved to Germany and continued her work there owning an atelier that hosted trainees of all nations. She later migrated to Brazil, and took part in art exhibitions from 1952 to 1957 in São Paulo and Chicago. After that, the author moved to the original crib of Lithuanian migrants, the United States of America. Her works – illustrations, paintings, posters – can be found at Lithuanian Art Museum and the M. K. Čiurlionis Gallery in Chicago.
